I finally got the tub removed from the jeep. I thought I would have had this done a while ago, but did not realize how many parts there are attached to the tub. You don't have to remove all the parts off the tub before removing it, but I plan on trashing this tub and possibly saving some of those parts.
Here are a couple shots of the jeep before removing the tub.
While trying to lift the tub off we realized that I forgot to remove these two parts which were attached to the wheel well on the drivers side. I took this picture through the rust hole where the roll bar was attached.
Not sure what these parts are. They are attached to the gas tank and look like two types of gas filters or emission filters. I removed these parts from the tub and left them connected to the gas tank.
I had two of my buddies, John and Ray, help me remove this tub. There are no pictures of us actually removing it because I did not have anyone to take those pictures. Here is John trying to lift the damn thing by himself.
We got the tub removed and carried over to my shed for storage. I am keeping it for now in case I want to use it for a guide when cutting the holes for the new body.
This is the underside of the tub sitting on it's side in my back yard. I thought it was funny how the section that covered the transmission was in the best shape due to all the sludge protecting it.
Here is John and Ray checking out the front of the body. We would be sitting around with some beers, but it was about 10:00 in the morning.
Here is where I am now on my project. I think my next goal is to get the engine and transmission pulled.
Here are some pictures of the jeep. Maybe I should just throw some seats on it and get it running!
