Cleaning up the Frame

Now that I have the Jeep down to the frame, I started getting it ready to be sand blasted.

First thing was to remove some broken bolts from the frame.  I flipped the frame over to make it easier to work on and got to work.

Here are the broken bolts I had to remove.  There are nuts welded inside the frame.  Everything I researched online told me that the best thing to do is just knock the bolt through the hole which will break the welded nut off the inside frame.  Doing this was not hard.  I just used the air hammer and knocked them right through.

This metal tube fell out of the frame as I was beating it to death.

Here is one of the bolts that I beat out.  I have to figure out now if I want to weld new nuts in the frame or not.  I have zero welding skills and no welder, so I will have to either get a friend to help or pay a pro to help me out.  I'll worry about that after I get the frame sandblasted.

I continued to strip all the little parts off the frame I had overlooked.  I swear, just when you think you are finished dealing with rusted bolts, you look over and see five more parts to take off.

Here are two bump stops I removed from the frame.  The one in the front was shot.  They make polyurethane bump stops, so I am sure I will replace them both.

Here is another bump stop on the driver side that I removed off this center bracket.  I already forgot what this center bracket does which is why I took this picture.
(Remember that the frame is upside down right now)

One more bump stop on the passenger side.

Removed!

Both sides of the frame has these brackets for holding the break lines.
This is the passenger side.

Removed on the passenger side

Last but not least I removed the rear bumper/towing hitch.  The bolts were rusted pretty bad but the actual bumper was still in pretty good shape.  Not sure if I will reuse this or not.

Removed!!!
